The steaks subs are definitely AWESOME, but what made them so awesome are the rolls they are served on.
Been going here since I was a child and they always have excellent food. I can still remember sharing a family fry with my sister and parents. If you want something a bit different try the sausage egg and cheese sub, it's my favorite. Ever since I moved to Florida Sack O Subs is a must visit every time I'm back in town. In fact it's usually the first place I head to. On my last visit I went multiple times and even filled a large cooler with a half a dozen whole subs to take back home. If you haven't been to Sack O Subs you don't know what you're missing.
Very bad experience when I ordered a sub to go on October 28, 2017. I had not been in Sack O Subs in over 5 years. I was very disappointed. I ordered "to go" a half tuna sub, dry (no mayo) with oil and vinegar, lettuce and tomato. The sub was mostly bread, shamefully small amount of tuna, hardly any oil, and I could not detect any vinegar. The lettuce was OK, but then, it is iceberg lettuce. No cheese. I was charged $9.53 for a sub that is advertised online for $7.25!. Since I was traveling and in a hurry to get on the road, I did not question the sub or the charge for the sub. I did not get a receipt either. I related this to a friend, and she said that I should have gone to Wawa for a good tuna sub, or for any sub for that matter. Another problem, in my opinion, is that there was a big container on the counter by the register where you place an order to go. It had a big sign that read, "TIPS." Why would a customer tip an employee who makes at least minimum wage? Tips as income is structured by the IRS for servers who are paid less than minimum wage. The cost of the employees making the sub is already built into the price of the sub. Based on my experience, in my opinion, I would question how carefully the employees who are taking the orders and making the subs monitor the TIPS container. If you don't tip, do you get an inferior order, and if you do tip, you get a decent order? Wawa would never allow any TIPS container for their employees because of ethics and the problem of unreported income. Sack O Subs use to be good, but, in my opinion, the whole experience was bad.
Our waitress was amazing and very friendly as well and suggested that we sign up for the rewards points. We came back a second day and got one of our sodas free and 10% off of our bill because of the total we spent the first time we came.
We were visiting Ocean City, NJ (from Baltimore, MD) for the first time last weekend for my daughter's softball tournament. We were giving high recommendations from her softball couch, who grew up in OC, NJ, saying that Sack O' Subs had the best steak subs in town.
Great variety of food. Not just sandwiches and pizza, they offer all kinds of wraps, salads, soups, pasta, etc... The staff is always friendly. They also have a points rewards program for repeat customers.
Now I wish we lived closer so that I could get a Sack O' Sub anytime :(
The kind folks at Sack O' serve consistently good fare in an energetic atmosphere. On many days you can dine with Ocean City luminaries and enjoy a sandwich special or Mexican offering at lunch. Know that the french fries are those reconstructed kind.
